August Press Release: Combat in the Cage

Philadelphia, PA -- Philadelphia-based Mixed Martial Arts promotion Combat in the Cage today announced the addition of influential boxing figures Jimmy Binns Sr. and Jimmy Binns Jr. as equity partners in the company.

The announcement comes in anticipation of Combat in the Cage's next show on August 16 in Newark, Delaware and comes at a time when the promotion has seen substantial growth in both its attendance figures and the number of MMA gyms and fighters affiliating themselves with Combat in the Cage's shows.

Binns Sr. is a former chairman of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission as well as a member of the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame. A well-known and respected attorney who is licensed to practice law in 20 states, Binns Sr. has represented the World Boxing Association as well as Don King and other well-known boxing figures. He currently represents the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police and has donated generously to their causes while also representing and fund-raising on behalf of the families of slain police officers in Philadelphia.

"Having the involvement of the Binns family will help Combat in the Cage grow tremendously, their experience and contacts in the boxing world will open many doors and help bring Combat in the Cage to a whole new level," said Combat in the Cage founding owner and promoter Ed Hsu.

"MMA is to the 21st Century what boxing was to the 16th through 20th century," Binns Sr. said about the decision to get involved with MMA. "I am excited to be involved with my son and Ed Hsu."

His son, Binns Jr., is an accomplished Philadelphia-based entrepreneur and aspiring boxing promoter. The life-long boxing enthusiast has served as a supervisor for numerous WBA fights and was the youngest to supervise a championship match.

"When Ed Hsu approached me I had doubts but then I went to a Combat in the Cage event and I instantly felt the energy from the fans and passion from the fighters," Binns Jr. stated. "With Ed's experience and my boxing background I feel we form a solid team to promote the growth of MMA."

The addition of the Binns family to the Combat in the Cage ownership group is expected to allow the promotion to expands its operations into additional markets, including Philadelphia and New York City, both of which are expected to begin regulation of MMA within the next 6-18 months.
